Sonia hands Maharashtra Cong reins to Chavan, Mumbai to Nirupam

Nearly nine months after the crushing defeats in the Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday appointed Ashok Chavan as state party chief and Sanjay Nirupam to head the Mumbai Congress.
