To beat court ban, Shirdi temple pledges 200 kg gold to PM Modi’s scheme

Shirdi temple has decided to move 200kg of its gold reserves to the government-sponsored Gold Monetisation Scheme. The glitch is that in 2012, Bombay HC had banned the temple trust from melting the gold, following a PIL that said devotees had made the offerings to Sai Baba, and not for raising money. Matunga property dispute the motive for twin murders

The two bodies found stuffed inside cardboard boxes that were discovered in a Kandivali (W) drain on Saturday evening were identified as prominent artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Brahmbani on Sunday. Three people — including a tempo driver who transported the boxes from Juhu thinking they were broken antiques — were detained over the murders and a police team travelled to Uttar Pradesh to nab two other suspects.
