2 laptops stolen from cars in Kharghar, CBD

NAVI MUMBAI: Incidents of thefts of breaking of the window panes of unattended parked cars and stealing valuables kept inside is increasing in the city. Two such incidents have been reported on Monday that occurred in Kharghar and CBD nodes. While, in Kharghar node, it is the second incident within a week at the same spot near Iskcon temple, in CBD node, the thieves have targeted the car parked at a distance of 200 metres from CBD police station. On Monday a FIR has been registered at Kharghar police station by 61-year-old Surendrapal Maniktala, a resident of sector-20, Kharghar, who has claimed he has parked his car near Iskcon temple on 27 May around 7.30 am and had gone to offer prayers. When he returned, he found his car's rear left door window pane broken and his laptop and cannon camera totally worth Rs 26k was stolen. 2 injured kites being treated at Navi Mumbai’s K’ghar hospital

NAVI MUMBAI: Two injured black kites were brought to the animal hospital in Kharghar on Thursday by rescuers. One of the kite's right wing was bleeding as it had been slashed. "After thorough examination we realized that the bird must have got entangled with wires or Manja thread .We have started the necessary treatment and medications," said Dr Yuvraj Kaginkar, an avian veterinarian. The birds are being treated at Myvets4Pets Animal Hospital and will be released in the wild after they recover. The birds were malnourished as they had not eaten or drunk for a long time before being rescued. "Since nutrition is the key factor during recovery, we have been giving them meat," said Dr. Madhurita Gupta, chief veterinarian. Kaginkar added that the bird with the damaged wing may not be able to fly very well but they have to release them as "there is no space to keep the birds after recovery".
