Water woes continue for 5th day in Navi Mumbai

NAVI MUMBAI: Residents of Kharghar, Taloja, Ulwe and Dronagiri, which come under Cidco, are facing acute shortage of drinking water since the last five days. Parts of Kharghar and Taloja are the worst-hit areas. "We are running around to fetch water for our daily use even on the fifth day of water cut. Sector 5 is badly affected as it is an high rise area. We are fed up with Cidco's service," said Snehal Bhujbal from sector 5, Kharghar. Cidco officials said that pressure in the main line is still building up to reach the high rise areas. Though Ulwe and Dronagiri require less volume compared to Kharghar, residents from these emerging townships are also complaining of shortage in supply. Cidco is now thinking about asking NMMC supply 5 MLD on regular basis to tide over the situation. "Before resuming service after the 48-hour shutdown, we had taken 15 MLD of water from NMMC to fill our empty line with the hope that it would expedite the supply. But the pressure is still low…
